Orbit is hiring two Developer Relations Analysts to help bring greater clarity to how our industry thinks about, organizes, and measures DevRel.

We believe the next set of great ideas about community and developer relations are waiting to be discovered and that they’ll be crucial to DevRel’s next steps. We’ve created this role to research and evangelize those ideas direct to DevRel professionals.

You’ll be joining a 50-person, fast-growing organization, working within the team behind DevRelCon and DeveloperRelations.com to develop training, run research programs, create content, and help organize events that will push DevRel forward. This is a transformational opportunity both to build your own career within developer relations and also to leave a lasting mark on how DevRel is practiced. You’ll develop deep expertise and will have a public role as a key player in the development of DevRel across the tech industry.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research projects to deepen understanding of specific aspects of developer relations, whether practical or theoretical.

  • Taking the lead on projects throughout the year, such as creating DevRel training or producing in-depth reports based on the team’s research.

  • Writing original articles for DeveloperRelations.com that showcase the team’s research, highlight the work of the broader DevRel community, and offer practical advice for developer relations practitioners and leaders.

  • Producing video and audio content, such as podcasts and live streams.

  • Helping to organize DevRelCon events both in-person and online.

  • Engaging with the broader developer relations community.

Job requirements

Job requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience working in developer relations roles.

  • Ideally, experience in a related role (such as developer education, marketing, or industry analysis) prior to working in DevRel.

  • A vision for the future of developer relations and also the willingness to accommodate other viewpoints.

  • Excellent written communication in English.

  • Experience in any of the following is a plus:
    • qualitative or quantitative research and analysis

    • events management

    • training creation and delivery

    • audio/video production or live streaming.

The hiring process
