👋 Hello there! Orbit is hiring a Solutions Engineer to lead the technical aspects of customers’ Orbit implementations, including data modeling, custom integrations, and API support.
You’ll work closely with the sales and success teams as well as directly with the CEO to drive results with our most strategic customers, both in pre-sales and post-sales capacities. You’ll use our API, no-code/low-code integrations, and even the kitchen sink if that’s what’s required to get the job done. This is all about getting our users’ platforms and systems talking to Orbit.
On any given day, this might include:
Going deep with customer engineers and operations leads to design and implement Orbit instances
Advising customers on data modeling best practices
Writing custom scripts to get customer data into their Orbit workspace
Joining sales calls to provide technical expertise
Collaborating with the customer success teams to identify growth opportunities on key accounts
Joining product and engineering conversations to surface technical product feedback
Opportunistically contributing to API and integration documentation
Providing high-level technical assistance to key customers on an ongoing basis, and acting as a point of escalation for challenging support issues for those customers
Technically upskilling customers on key Orbit concepts and integrations
We’re looking for someone with work experience along these lines:
3-5 years of experience in sales or customer engineering, solutions architecture, developer relations, or similar roles. Pure engineering experience is great too!
Strong record of solid customer communication, both in written form and in-person
Proficiency with APIs and systems integration
Experience with creative problem solving
Ability to quickly learn customer systems — both technical and interpersonal — and to navigate them with grace
Able to effectively prioritize and balance work that has a wider impact, like creating reusable scripts, vs the need to support key customers directly
Experience collaborating with customer-facing teams like sales and success
If you don’t feel that you meet those qualifications on paper but are still excited about the opportunity, please apply anyway! We believe great talent can come from anywhere, and we know that a resume doesn’t tell the whole story of who you are and what you can do.
Working at Orbit
Orbit is a remote-first, fully distributed company with employees all over the world. To make sure our team has some overlap time to meet synchronously, we limit our hiring to candidates in time zones between UTC-7 and UTC+3. If you happen to live in San Francisco or Paris, you have the option to join other members of the team at a small outpost, but this is not required (and as such, we don’t offer relocation to those cities). We do not offer visa sponsorship at this time.
We offer to all employees:
Competitive compensation including salary and stock options
Flexible and family-friendly working arrangements
Your dream hardware, software, and conferencing setup for your home office
Opportunities for professional development, which might include books, courses, conferences, or community events
Need something not listed here? Let’s talk about it! At Orbit, we have teammates around the world, so certain benefits (like time off, health insurance, retirement, and other things) will vary based on where you live. We take the health and well-being of our teammates seriously. Just tell us what you need to be happy and successful, and we’ll try our best to accommodate.
The hiring process
We are a young startup, frequently iterating on our interview processes. The specific steps you go through may vary, but for all candidates, we hold the following principles in mind:
Everyone hears back from us, no matter the decision. At Orbit, nobody’s application falls into a black hole.
We respect candidates’ time and energy. We will strive for a 2-3 week interview process, unless you request more time.
We conduct conversational interviews as well as collaboration sessions, which are designed to help you get a sense of what it’s really like to work with our team.
We want everyone, candidates as well as interviewers, to come away feeling positive about the experience. Everyone should feel that they got something out of meeting and exploring the opportunity together, even if an offer isn’t extended or accepted.
And most importantly:
Orbit does not discriminate in employment matters on the basis of race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, military service eligibility, veteran status, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, or any other protected class. We support workplace diversity. In fact, we strongly believe that diversity contributes to a broader collective perspective that will consistently lead to a better company and better products. We are working hard to increase the diversity of our team wherever we can and we actively encourage everyone to consider becoming a part of it.
